At any rate high speed color film is nothing if not grainy. Ultramax is definitely grainy, being 400 speed, but to me that looks more like the typical epson flatbed scanner noise. Could be compression from the web upload but it also looks really soft, like the negative is too high or too low off the glass. You’ll never be getting the most out ...DSLR/mirrorless scanning is much sharper than an entry-level flatbed for both 35mm and medium format, (can be) much more efficient, and quite comparable to lab scans.. Cost of entry will most likely be higher with a DSLR/mirrorless, even excluding the camera body, though can be done more economically than my setup with a little creativity (possibly at the cost of efficiency).
